US & International Client Information:

When traveling such a long distance with your pet there are many things to plan. Most US and International patients need to plan to stay in Canada for a minimum of 3 days. The first day for the consultation, the second for the surgery and the third for a recheck appointment post surgery.

Whether traveling by car or airplane to ensure a smooth trip across the border into Canada with your pet please ensure you have a VALID RABIES CERTIFICATE for your pet as well as a VALID PASSPORT for all travelers. If your pet is traveling in a crate or pet carrier please make sure to check that it is large enough to accommodate your pet comfortably with an Elizabethan collar (head collar/cone) and still be zipped up all the way.

At the consultation Dr Wolfer will examine your pet to ensure that he or she is a good candidate for surgery and answer any questions you may have. On surgery day we will have you drop your pet off in the morning, and once the surgery is complete we will contact you to tell you how things went and what time you should return to the clinic to pick up your pet.

It is important to know that we may need you to stay in the area to be available to sit with your pet if necessary. Depending on how agitated your pet becomes, you may be required to sit with them before surgery until we are ready for them or after surgery until they are ready to be sent home.
